Incident triage is the process of deciding what a reported security issue means and what should happen next.

A practical triage step answers:

  • Is the signal valid, duplicate, or benign?
  • What system, identity, data, or business service is involved?
  • What is the likely impact and confidence level?
  • How urgent is the response?
  • Who should own the next action?
  • What evidence needs to be preserved or collected?

Triage should create enough structure for action without pretending that early information is complete. Initial severity, likely cause, and scope may change as evidence improves.

IncidentAI supports AI-assisted triage, summaries, context enrichment, and recommended next steps while leaving validation and decisions with the response team.
