Human-in-the-loop AI means that an AI system assists work while a person remains responsible for reviewing and approving important outputs or actions.

In security and compliance workflows, human review should cover:

  • Whether the source information is complete
  • Whether the suggested classification or mapping is reasonable
  • Whether the likely impact and urgency are correct
  • Whether an action is safe and authorized
  • Whether the final policy, incident record, or report is accurate

The model creates a reviewable workflow rather than treating AI output as an authoritative decision. It is especially important when an output could affect legal, regulatory, safety, financial, customer, or operational outcomes.
